Verizon to cap data plans?

It appears that after much talk, debate, and speculation Verizon will likely move to a tiered data strategy similar to AT&T’s by the end of the month. Verizon has been talking about doing this for nearly a year, but they have not made any moves. Now that AT&T has done it and the backlash seems minimal it is safe for Verizon move forward with its plan. This could be a double edged sword for Verizon. I’d imagine a new low tier plan (similar to the $15 200mb AT&T plan) would attract many new smart phone customers, but I’m curious to see how many people end up cancelling their Mi-Fi or Mobile Hot Spot plans due to a bandwidth limit. Given that customers have no other reliable (aka Sprint/T-Mobile) provider to switch to they will likely have to deal with whatever decision Verizon decides to make.
