Unleash your HD2 with Android

The HTC HD2 was released by HTC for T-Mobile earlier this year. The phone’s specs are truly great and rival the closely related cousin, EVO 4G. Unfortunately the hardware was plagued by Windows Mobile 6.5. Yes HTC Sense did make it much more usable, but there were still many unhappy customers. Well great news, things are about to change.
The Htc_Linux team has been chipping away at the problems of getting Android running on this great piece of hardware. As of right now, they have almost fully ported Android 2.2 with Sense UI albeit a few minor flaws (one of them being call quality). But what is truly a marvel is how fast all of this development has occurred. If you had asked us a few weeks ago about putting Android on this phone, we would have laughed in your face and said it was impossible.
The days are ticking, and soon the HTC HD2 might be added to the list of flagship phones that currently run Google’s Android.
